Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma went after Rahul Gandhi on November 3. He claimed the Congress leader could only hold the top office in a private setting. The jab followed a mock parliamentary session held at the home of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Sarma did not hold back. He stated, "Rahul Gandhi can become Prime Minister only on Mallikarjun Kharge's verandah. He can never become Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha. Narendra Modi will remain the Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha."

The INDIA bloc staged the mock proceedings on October 31 in New Delhi. They used the event to launch a public impeachment of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar oversaw the session while Kharge pushed a resolution against the official. Rahul Gandhi finished the day with closing remarks.

Opposition leaders claim the Election Commission is damaging electoral integrity. They specifically pointed to the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. This event followed a November 1 rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, which focused on alleged vote theft. The BJP dismissed these claims. The ruling party argues the Congress is just making excuses for its recent election losses and maintains that roll revisions are vital for transparency.
