Itanagar: Incessant rain triggered fresh floods and landslides across five Arunachal Pradesh districts: East Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang, Kamle, and Kra Daadi. Thursday's report confirms the damage occurred over the past 24 hours. The disaster has crippled the state. More than one lakh people are suffering.

The state disaster management department records seven deaths and 29 injuries. Total affected residents have reached 103,860. Upper Siang remains the hardest hit with 49,259 people impacted, while Siang, Kra Daadi, East Kameng, Upper Subansiri, Namsai, and Anjaw also report high numbers. Homes are gone. Officials report 804 houses damaged, including 614 kutcha and 120 pucca structures.

Infrastructure has crumbled across the region. Floods destroyed roads, bridges, schools, and hospitals. Agriculture took a heavy hit. Farmers lost 603.75 hectares of land, including 240 hectares of crops and 363.75 hectares of plantations. In East Kameng, 640 people faced new floods, while 53 were hit in Kamle.

The India Meteorological Department issued a multi-day warning. An orange alert covers Papum Pare, Tirap, and Changlang for Friday. The weather bureau cautioned residents about the volatile terrain. "The IMD has advised district authorities and residents to remain vigilant, warning that heavy rainfall could trigger landslides, flash floods, waterlogging and disruptions to road connectivity, particularly in vulnerable areas."

Warnings expand on Saturday to include Longding, East Siang, and Lower Subansiri. Lohit and Papum Pare face the risk of very heavy rain. Conditions should improve by Sunday, leaving most areas under a yellow alert or clear by Monday.
