Shillong: Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong confirmed Tuesday that the state government will soon meet to decide the fate of Them Iew Mawlong residents. Moving people is a priority. However, the High Court of Meghalaya currently holds the file. Officials must wait for the judges.
The government is ironing out the final details before taking action. Tynsong defended the record of the NPP-led administration against critics. He insisted they handle tough files that past leaders ignored. "The matter is currently pending before the High Court of Meghalaya," Tynsong said.
Tynsong pointed to other major administrative battles as proof of progress. He highlighted work on interstate boundary disputes, the Inner Line Permit, language recognition, and uranium mining. The administration claims these efforts protect the state and the security of the tribal population.
