Arunachal Pradesh Flood Toll Climbs as Search Continues for Missing Youth

Itanagar: Heavy rain battered four districts in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday, worsening a brutal monsoon season. Floods and landslides hit East Siang, Kamle, Kra Daadi, and Changlang. The situation is dire.

Search teams from the State Disaster Response Force are scouring the area for Monggo Tayeng. The 27-year-old was swept away by a torrent in East Siang on Sunday. The State Emergency Operation Centre confirmed the search remains ongoing.

Disaster officials reported 51 new victims since Sunday. Changlang accounts for 41 of those cases, while Kamle reports 10. The state tally now stands at 1,49,378 people affected across 25 districts. The destruction has already claimed seven lives and left 29 people injured.

East Siang remains the hardest hit, with 35,500 people reeling from the disaster. Other high-impact zones include Siang with 25,365, Kra Daadi with 13,731, and Upper Subansiri with 13,017. Authorities are continuing their work. According to the official bulletin, "Authorities are continuing relief, rescue and restoration efforts in the affected areas as heavy rainfall persists across several parts of the state."
