Drug suspect escapes Nagaon hospital while handcuffed

Guwahati: Ahmad Ali, an undertrial prisoner facing drug trafficking charges, escaped from the Nagaon Medical College and Hospital on September 9. Ali was locked up at Nagaon Central Jail before his transfer to the medical facility for emergency treatment on Wednesday. He is gone. The prisoner slipped away from the hospital grounds while still wearing his handcuffs.

Nagaon Police launched a search operation to track down the fugitive. Officials have yet to provide specifics on how Ali bypassed his guards to exit the premises. The department stated, "Further details regarding how he managed to escape and the circumstances surrounding the incident are awaited." Investigators remain on the ground to catch him.
