Dimapur Police Sets 30-Day Deadline to Claim Abandoned Vehicles

Kohima: Dimapur police want these cars gone. Commissioner of Police Aotula T. Imchen issued a notice to reclaim 57 vehicles left at various stations and traffic control units for over six months. The clock is ticking. You have 30 days from the date of the announcement to step forward.

This push follows a July 28 directive from the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Dimapur regarding the disposal of seized property. Any registered owner, lawful possessor, or person with a valid interest in the vehicles must provide proper documentation to verify their status. "Claimants shall produce valid and relevant documents in support of the claim," the official notice states.

The department will cross-check all records, registration details, and police files before releasing any property. Failure to act means losing the vehicle for good. The police plan to dispose of all remaining inventory using standard legal procedures once the deadline passes. Officials noted, "No claim or objection shall ordinarily be entertained after expiry of the aforesaid period," unless a court orders otherwise.

If you need to submit a claim or have questions, contact the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police at 7005206039. You can also reach the office via email at adcp.dmp-ngl@gov.in.
