Kohima: Police recovered an unidentified male body from an abandoned house in Ward-1, Medziphema, on July 20. Officers arrived at the scene around 12:30 pm following reports of the discovery. The man, believed to be a non-Naga between 45 and 50 years old, likely died from illness and starvation. Authorities moved the body to the District Hospital Dimapur morgue for a post-mortem exam. Officials urged the public to contact the Medziphema Police Station at 7085055023 if they can identify the deceased.
Separately, the Central Minority Wing plans to hold its yearly meeting and orientation at the Conference Hall, Dimapur Division Office, on July 22 at 2:00 pm. The event aims to tighten coordination across Minority Wing units in Dimapur and Chümoukedima. Attendees include leaders from Dimapur I, Dimapur II, Dimapur III, Ghaspani I, and Ghaspani II assembly constituencies. Press and Media In-charge Roshan B K stated the goal is "strengthening coordination and organisational functioning among Minority Wing units under the Dimapur and Chümoukedima divisions."
Kohima businesses face new pressure. The Kohima Municipal Council directed all shopkeepers to paint or whitewash building fronts facing the road by August 10. The order follows a home department meeting ahead of the 80th Independence Day celebrations in 2026.
Finally, the Naga National Council and Federal Government of Nagaland will host a monthly meeting at the Transit Peace Camp in Kohima on July 27 at 10:00 am.
