Agartala: The All India Congress Committee appointed Amir Hossain as the ad hoc president of the National Students Union of India in Tripura. The order took effect immediately. AICC general secretary K. C. Venugopal confirmed the move in a press release. The party president personally approved the selection.

Hossain now directs all NSUI operations across the state. He must manage student programs and build up the party base before upcoming political events. This change is part of a wider effort to fix the party student wing. The AICC aims to energize campus politics.

The leadership shuffle extends beyond the northeast. The party also named Bibhuti Bhusan Mohapatra as the ad hoc president for Odisha. The AICC stated the decision is part of the party's "ongoing organisational restructuring in its student wing." Congress leaders hope these hires reinforce their presence in campuses across the country.
