Kohima: Chakhesang Hoho Kohima members met July 25 at RCEMPA, Jotsoma. The session brought together community leaders to plan for the future. Z Lohe, former speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, told the crowd to get to work. He pressed the community to create a strategic plan to face upcoming challenges. He also warned against the loss of heritage.
Lohe expressed his concern over "too much use of English" by speakers during local community event at the cost of the mother tongue. He wants members to use local dialects to keep Naga culture alive. Rothihu Tetseo, IGP for Nagaland police, added his voice to the cause. He urged the attendees to sign up for the ongoing census.
CHK president Dozohu Tunyi thanked supporters for funding the organization's building project. Secretary Mutsivoyi Kotso and finance secretary Lhuvesayi Lohe delivered status reports on the construction and accounts. The event included songs from the Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute and Rose Vero. Pastors Thujoneyi Veswuh, Kevekhalo Lasuh, and Khrotso Mero led the religious portions of the day. Former minister Zachilhu Vadeo and youth leader Kevesa Khamo attended.
The nomination committee named the new teams for the 2026-2029 term. Dozohu Tunyi remains president of CHK. The team includes Neizulo Therie, Mutsivoyi Kotso, Lhuvesayi Lohe, Avino Theyo, Kuzhovesa Soho, Vekhotso Swuro, Chipakhuyi Rhakho, Neinguu Rabvo, Neilo Khape, and Tsobahü Rhakho. Medotso Khape will lead the youth organization alongside Avizo Nienu, Zhoveto Puro, and Sarhunyi Shupao. Each colony unit must now pick a coordinator for the youth executive body.
