Kohima: The Chakhesang Cultural Research Institute kicked off a raffle draw campaign on August 2. They need cash to buy a permanent plot of land for the organization. MLA Kudecho Khamo hosted the launch at his Kohima residence. He serves as the Advisor for Civil Administration Works Department.
CCRI Managing Director Mesusayi Tetseo led the event. Finance Committee Convenor Vahine Thisa laid out the project report for the attendees. Rev. Neikko Mero, Senior Pastor of KCBCK, performed a dedicatory prayer for the ticket sales. Khamo officially started the campaign after the prayer concluded.
The group started in 1993 with headquarters in Chetheba. Their mission remains the protection of Chakhesang cultural heritage and values. Now, they are working with their parent body, the Chakhesang Cultural Organisation, to secure a permanent home. Organizers claim, "every ticket purchased would support efforts to preserve and promote the community's cultural identity."
They asked all community members to contribute what they can. This drive is about unity and responsibility. They want the younger generation to protect the legacy of their ancestors while the world shifts around them.
