Agartala: Border Security Force troops apprehended 41-year-old Peters Molla near the Ballamukha border in South Tripura on Wednesday. The Cameroonian national crossed the barbed-wire fence under the Ishan Chandranagar Gram Panchayat area. BSF personnel from the 43rd Battalion caught him during routine surveillance.
Officers hauled Molla to the 43rd Battalion Border Outpost for initial questioning. They processed legal paperwork before handing him to the Belonia Police Station. Prosecutors registered a case for his illegal entry.
A judge in Belonia ordered Molla held for three days. Police want to map his route and find his accomplices. Investigators are digging into whether this is a case of human trafficking or organized migration.
Authorities are currently investigating if local networks helped him breach the international border. Police stated, "further questioning was necessary to ascertain the purpose of his entry into India and the route he used to reach the international border." BSF and Tripura police are now working together to identify any groups that assisted the infiltration.
