Imphal: The CPI Bishnupur Local Council launched a month-long tribute to Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at Open Bhawan Khwairakpan in Bishnupur. The event marks his 130th birth anniversary. Comrades S. Nilakamal Singh, Yaiskul RK, Th. Yaiskul Meitei, Ch. Sharat Singh, and advocate N. Ramananda Singh led the ceremony. The group placed floral tributes at the site. They remembered his life and his deep commitment to the masses.
Speakers highlighted his work to improve conditions for the people. The party also honored Comrade Sorokhaibam Nilakamol for his role in securing a local CPI office. He received a cash award, a citation, and a memento. He felt moved by the recognition. During the event, he stated, "the recognition should encourage continued efforts towards pursuing the ideals and objectives associated with Hijam Irabot."
CPI Bishnupur Local Council Joint Secretary O. Chinglemba noted the campaign aims to educate the public on Irabot's legacy. He wants the community to know the history of his actions. The council will continue its work through the end of the month.
