Agartala: Bishalgarh MLA Sushanta Deb skipped the usual party fanfare on Saturday morning. Instead, he hosted a registration camp for the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana to celebrate his son's birthday. Residents signed up for the accident insurance scheme for a nominal fee. It was a push for community welfare.

Deb said the inspiration came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Mann Ki Baat radio address. The MLA wanted to turn his family milestone into a public service event. Party workers, volunteers, administrative staff, local media, and well-wishers kept the operation running smoothly.

Deb thanked everyone who helped make the day a success. He believes leaders should use birthdays to show social responsibility rather than keeping them private. "The idea was to link personal joy with public welfare. Seeing the enthusiasm of people motivates me to continue such citizen-centric programmes in the future," he said. Constituents praised the move as a clear example of leadership.
