Kohima: Assam Rifles launched a broad community outreach campaign across Nagaland, targeting healthcare, education, and national pride. The efforts spanned several districts, providing direct aid and guidance to students and residents.
On August 7, personnel conducted a medical and dental camp at the Care and Support Children Home in Mokokchung. Staff examined 19 children, including seven girls and 12 boys. They provided free consultations, medication, and dental kits. The management noted the impact of this work, stating, "The initiative strengthened goodwill and cooperation between Assam Rifles and the local community."
Events in Tuensang and Pungro marked the 150-year anniversary of Vande Mataram. A rally in Tuensang on August 8 promoted national unity. Meanwhile, 500 students at Little Flower Higher Secondary School in Pungro joined a painting competition on August 7. They focused on themes of national unity and heritage.
Educational outreach reached Kohima Garrison, where the force paired with Aakash Educational Services Ltd. The session drew 47 families, 57 students, and eight teachers from the Assam Rifles Public School. They discussed NEET, JEE, and foundation course scholarships. Separately, the Kohima Battalion lectured at the Government High School on PWD Road about vocational training and career planning for the armed forces and other sectors.
In Phelungre, Kiphire district, 25 locals joined 17 Assam Rifles personnel on August 7 to mark National Handloom Day. The session focused on the economic importance of traditional weaving and women's empowerment. Attendees explored new ways to pursue self-employment through these skills.
