Agartala: Tripura police seized 525 bottles of Eskuf cough syrup late Wednesday night near the Motinagar border road. Officers on mobile duty spotted several suspicious, abandoned cartons sitting by the roadside. They inspected the stash and found the bottles prepped for transit. The haul is now locked up as unclaimed property.

Authorities estimate the market value of the seized drugs at roughly 5.25 lakh rupees. It was a bust. Investigators believe the shipment was part of a smuggling operation due to the proximity to the border. The Sonamura Police Station is now running a full investigation into the matter.

Detectives are hunting for the owners. They need to find out where the bottles came from and where they were going. Police are digging into potential cross-border smuggling links, noting that "cough syrup is often misused in illicit trade across the region." Teams are currently working to identify the organized groups responsible for the abandoned stock.
