Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav opened a new Academic Staff College and several health units at the International University, Nagaland on Saturday. He cut the ribbon for the naturopathy, physiotherapy, and medical laboratory science departments. These facilities now stand ready to serve students and the public as diagnostic centers.
Yadav praised the institution for its growth since 2006. He highlighted the importance of teacher quality during his address. "By investing in our teachers, we unlock a powerful multiplier effect. Empowering one educator elevates hundreds of students and ultimately enriches the entire state," he said.
The Governor urged students to stop hunting for jobs. He wants them to start businesses that fix local problems. He also challenged faculty to focus their research on the economic and environmental needs of Nagaland.
Law and Justice Advisor TN Mannen noted this college is the first of its kind in Nagaland. It is only the second such center in the Northeast. Mannen thanked founder chancellor Dr. Priyaranjan Trivedi for his vision in expanding the school.
The event featured a lamp-lighting ceremony and the release of new university publications. IUN registrar Dr. Roopam Bachhil welcomed guests, while professor Zavise Rume outlined the college objectives. Other speakers included pro chancellor Dr. Utkarsh Sharma and Ziro university vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Satya Lakshmi. Joint registrar Dr. Durga Malakar closed the session.
