Assam Opens New 3.92 Crore Academic Building at Dhemaji City College

Guwahati: Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu opened a new academic building at Dhemaji City College on August 29. The project cost 3.92 crore rupees. It was funded through the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan, known as PM-USHA.

Dhemaji City College serves 1,700 students today. That is a sharp rise from past enrollment figures. The new facility houses multiple classrooms and a Computer-Based Test Centre holding 100 computers. A meeting hall inside seats 500 people. Officials also installed separate toilet blocks for male and female students.

Pegu described the investment as part of a push to modernize higher education across the state. He said the project is an "important step towards expanding and modernising higher-education infrastructure in Assam."

Designers built the structure with room for future growth. The college expects to keep adding space as more students arrive. This facility provides digital tools and better classrooms for the institution.
