Kohima: The Dimapur District Congress Committee claims Nagaland's Directorate of Agriculture is hiding records. Officials ignored an RTI order from September 2, 2026. The department held back critical files on machinery and seed supply. Transparency is now at stake.
Congress leaders want to see tender notices, competitive quotes, and comparative statements. They also asked for purchase committee proceedings, stock registers, and quality reports. Beneficiary distribution records are missing too. The committee suspects the department chose suppliers without fair competition. They want proof that farmers actually received the equipment.
The DCC expects the Director of Agriculture to explain the secrecy. They are pressuring the Agriculture Advisor to demand accountability and launch an independent probe into these transactions. The deadline for full compliance is October 23. Failure to provide documents will trigger protests and legal action. The committee promised to move the matter to the State Information Commission if necessary.
The group emphasized the severity of the situation in their statement. “This is not merely a question of missing documents; it is a question of public accountability and the proper use of taxpayers’ money,” the committee stated. They plan to keep the pressure on until the state reveals the truth about these expenditures.
