Kohima: Forty rubber growers and industry hopefuls from across Nagaland and Karbi Anglong gathered in Chekiye to master rubber goods manufacturing. The four-day event ran from September 22 to 25 at the Development Association of Nagaland training hall. This marked the first time the North East hosted a training program on producing finished rubber items.
Priya Varma H, Director of Training at the Rubber Board, opened the event. Kuruvilla Cherian of the Dimapur Regional Office handled the welcome duties. Tepunol Yore from the Nagaland Department of Land Resources spoke to the group. Technical experts K. N. Madhusoodanan from the Rubber Research Institute of India and Pradeepkumar P. Joy from the National Institute for Rubber Training led the sessions. They provided technical knowledge on value addition and practical product development.
Organizers joined forces for the event: the National Institute for Rubber Training, the Rubber Board in Kottayam, and the Dimapur Regional Office. The final day featured speakers including Kato Zhimomi of the Viyito Rubber Producers Society, Zachariah Ezung of NMSB RPS, and Benrilo Lotha of Nzhu RPS. Amar Boro offered the closing thanks before the group received their completion certificates.
"Manufacturing of Goods from Rubber" was the core focus of the program. Attendees walked away with new insights into the rubber industry. The training provided participants with technical knowledge and practical insights relevant to rubber based product development.
