Assam Minister Orders Streamlined Food Distribution Plan

Guwahati: Assam Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Kaushik Rai held a high-level review at Janata Bhawan on Wednesday, July 22. The session targeted supply chain gaps for the National Food Security Act. Officials must now ensure steady delivery of sugar and masoor dal to beneficiaries statewide. Distribution depends on coordination between the state department and the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd.

Teams vetted procurement logs and transit plans. Rai demanded tighter synchronization to prevent gaps in the supply chain. He pushed for strict adherence to delivery deadlines to keep food moving. Failure is not an option. Rai told staff, "welfare schemes must be implemented with transparency, efficiency and punctuality so that the intended benefits reach every eligible beneficiary across the state."

The state wants these items in homes immediately. Attendees included Additional Chief Secretary Biswaranjan Samal, Secretary Anusuya Dutta Baruah, and Commissioner Hemanta Bhuyan. These senior officials oversaw the full review of logistics and storage arrangements.
