Guwahati: Assam Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushik Rai inspected the Boragaon waste dumping ground on August 31. He met with departmental heads to map out plans for recycling city refuse. Officials specifically weighed how to manage combustible materials more effectively. The visit aimed to overhaul current waste management standards.
Rai brought a team of top brass to the site. Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania, Housing and Urban Affairs Secretary Dr. Jeevan B, and GMC Commissioner Chinmoy Prakash Phookan joined him. The delegation scrutinized the facility to strengthen local disposal practices. They want a cleaner city. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation is currently pushing for scientific waste processing and better resource recovery to create a waste-free Guwahati.
