Guwahati: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai spent Saturday in Dibrugarh auditing public works and supply chains. He checked ongoing construction, sanitation, and food distribution efforts. The minister oversaw the Town Hall project and drainage work stretching from Banipur Convoy Road to the Sesa River. He expects this project to stop artificial flooding.
Rai also toured municipal waste facilities. He inspected both the Materials Recovery Facility and the Faecal Sludge Treatment Plant. He ordered staff to boost operational efficiency and hygiene standards.
The minister checked a Fair Price Shop in Lahowal to verify foodgrain quality and weighing accuracy. He set a firm expectation for local distributors. He told officials to ensure that "beneficiaries receive their entitled ration at affordable prices and without inconvenience."
Stocks of subsidized pulses and sugar will hit shelves starting August 10. This runs alongside the current Anna Sewa Din program. At the Kheremia Gaon Panchayat Cooperative Society, Rai verified that the godowns hold enough essential food. He then visited the Tengakhat Paddy Procurement Centre. He reviewed storage plans for the 2026-27 Kharif season and pushed for faster farmer access to procurement systems.
A final review meeting took place at the Deputy Commissioner Office. Cabinet Minister Rameswar Teli, MLAs Prasanta Phukan and Chakradhar Gogoi, and Mayor Saikat Patra attended. Other officials present included District Commissioner Bikram Kairi, Anusua Saikia, Parijat Bhuyan, Tankeswar Das, Ashwini Doley, and Shivani Jernagal.
