Guwahati: Chirang District Commissioner Gokul Chandra Brahma launched a dedicated multilingual helpline to support communities living along the NERES XXV power transmission project. This service offers a direct line for farmers and residents to ask questions or report problems. It aims to bridge the gap between local people and government officials.
The helpline operates in Assamese, Bodo, and Hindi. It covers villages located in Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Bajali districts. Officials stated, "Development becomes more meaningful when people affected by major projects have a voice in the process."
This initiative builds trust through transparency and faster grievance handling. The NERES XXV project intends to boost grid reliability and meet rising electricity demands throughout Assam and the Northeast. By keeping local interests at the center, the state hopes to make infrastructure expansion more inclusive.
