Assam Food Safety Officials Probe Moran Hotel Over Mouldy Sweets

Guwahati: Authorities raided Tasty Treat near the Moran bus stand on Tuesday. The inspection followed claims that a local man and his pregnant sister ate mouldy Bundia laddus bought at the shop. The pair realized the food was rotten only after taking a bite. The Moran unit of the All Assam Students' Union reported the incident to officials.

A Food Safety Officer arrived with Moran Police to scan the kitchen. They found mould on milk and chhana-based sweets stored in a broken refrigeration unit. The store lacked a valid FSSAI license. Officials destroyed the tainted goods on the spot. The department is now filing a case against the establishment.

Local residents want answers. They demand frequent checks on area businesses to keep food safe. One official noted: "The Food Safety Department destroyed the spoiled sweets and initiated the process of registering a case against the establishment."
