Guwahati: Health officials converged at the Boko Block Primary Health Centre in Assam’s Kamrup district on September 25, 2026. They marked the 11th Ayurveda Day by linking traditional medicine with modern health crises. The meeting addressed tobacco use, substance abuse, and mental health.
Dr. Monaj Kr Sharma of Rangia Model Hospital led the discussion on daily Ayurvedic applications. He advocated for integrating these practices into everyday routines. Dr. Arabinda Das, the District Nodal Officer for AYUSH, issued a stark warning regarding addiction. "Urged people to remain aware of the health risks associated with such habits," he told the crowd.
Mental health took center stage as well. Dr. Dhruba Baruah of the Boko BPHC pushed for early intervention and support systems for those struggling. The event drew 123 people, including ASHA workers, local residents, and medical staff.
A long list of regional experts provided guidance throughout the day. Participants heard from Dr. A.K. Talukdar of Boko CHC and Dr. Lalita Ronghangphi from Bamunigaon Model Hospital. AYUSH officers Dr. Motiur Rahman and Dr. A. Bhagaaboti also contributed to the session. The group focused on combining traditional medicine with urgent public health warnings.
