Guwahati: Morigaon officials launched the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 on September 10. The event started at the District Commissioner's Conference Hall. Additional District Commissioner Dr. Nilakhi Baishya lit the ceremonial lamp. The event moved quickly into a district-level convergence meeting to plan nutrition interventions.
Multiple departments must now work together. The Joint Director of Health Services will run health camps. They must find anaemic children in vulnerable tea garden areas. The Inspector of Schools will hold awareness drives. They will also select POSHAN Champions to promote healthy student habits.
The Public Health Engineering Department received orders to launch WASH campaigns. They must secure safe drinking water for vulnerable zones. Meanwhile, the AYUSH Department will push community yoga sessions. The Postal Department will focus on the Pradhan Mantri Matri Vandana Yojana and Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana to help mothers and girls access welfare schemes.
Smt. Mrigakhi Baruah, the District Social Welfare Officer, and representatives from ITC Limited attended the session. Officials emphasized the goal of unified action. As the meeting report noted, attendees focused on the importance of "coordinated efforts among departments to translate nutrition and health initiatives into effective interventions at the community level."
