Six Arrested in Guwahati Cyber Fraud Sweep

Guwahati: Police arrested six people during a raid at Majesty Manor in Hatigaon, Guwahati. The operation targeted an inter-state cyber fraud network. A team from Nagarbera Police led the charge. CDSP Boko-Chaygaon Jankishore Gogoi supervised the bust alongside SI Harjit Das and SI Dibyajyoti Rajbongshi.

Five of the suspects were already wanted for a prior cyber-fraud case. The accused include Safakat Ansari from Deoghar, Jharkhand, and local residents Ashik Mahabub Alom, Artful Islam, Jahidul Islam, Dhurbajyoti Bhuyan, and Jomir Mullah. Investigators traced the group using diaries and recovered statements. Police believe Ansari traveled to Assam to collect cash and gold from local handlers.

Officers seized a significant haul during the search. The inventory includes 12 mobile phones, various ATM and debit cards, a Hyundai i20, and a Pulsar NS400 motorcycle. They also took two gold rings bought just two days prior. Police are currently verifying the receipts for those rings. Digital evidence shows the group used voice messages and QR codes to coordinate illicit transfers across state lines.

Investigators are now parsing through banking data and identity documents to map the entire network. They want to identify everyone involved in the money trail. "Further investigation is underway," police said. The authorities intend to track down all account holders and beneficiaries linked to the seized cards and communication devices.
