Assam Congress Appoints 50-Member Team for Council Polls

Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee set up a 50-member state-level coordination committee on Tuesday, September 1. This move aims to secure a win in the upcoming Sonowal Kachari Autonomous Council elections. The party moves fast. Assam Congress president Gaurav Gogoi approved the committee with immediate effect.

Polly Hazarika chairs the group. Sailen Sonowal steps in as Adviser, while Pratim Sonowal takes the lead as Coordinator. Pranjal Saikia and Shiba Baruah fill the roles of Joint Coordinators. The team rounds out with 45 additional members drawn from across the state.

These representatives hail from Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Golaghat, Sivasagar, and Lakhimpur. The APCC stated the panel will focus on "coordination, organisational preparedness and electoral strategy" to bolster the party campaign. Organizers intend to solidify the network to ensure a Congress victory at the ballot box.
