Agartala Sets October 10 Deadline for Durga Puja Road Repairs

Agartala: The Agartala Municipal Corporation is pushing to finish city-wide road repairs by October 10. Mayor Dipak Majumder confirmed the deadline follows direct orders from Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Officials want every street motorable before the festive crowds arrive.

A massive coordination effort is now underway. The AMC, Smart City Mission, Public Works Department, Power Department, TUDA, and local police are all involved. The fire department, forest officials, and water board are also contributing to the plan. "Many devotees from across the state will come to Agartala during Durga Puja. Keeping in mind that everyone should be able to enjoy the festivities comfortably and hassle-free, necessary steps are being taken by all concerned departments," Majumder said.

Traffic control is a major hurdle. The Traffic Superintendent of Police must keep streets clear for pedestrians and vehicles alike. The AMC plans to bolster staffing levels to handle the influx. Meanwhile, the Power Department will work with individual puja clubs to guarantee the lights stay on throughout the event. Every department must sync up their schedules to meet the hard cutoff.
