Kohima: Students from the Red Ribbon Club at Zunheboto Government College hit the streets on September 17. They marched through town to push for HIV prevention and push back against social stigma. The drive hit major transit points including Old Town colony, Kawoto Complex Alahuto Colony Junction, and the Centre Point at Project Colony.
The group carried signs with clear demands. They held placards stating, "Fight the Virus, Not the Person." Other slogans pushed for public testing and empowerment. The students urged residents to ditch the discrimination and show compassion toward people living with the virus.
Participants spent the day teaching locals about safe practices and the dangers of sharing needles. They pushed the National AIDS Helpline, 1097, as a primary resource for anyone seeking help or information. The event, which included a flash mob, operated under directives from the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society.
