Kohima: Zunheboto hosted its annual Red Run on July 22. The event aimed to boost awareness regarding HIV and sexually transmitted infections. Vihoto Zhimo, the deputy chairperson of the Zunheboto Town Council, flagged off the race. Zhimo praised the medical workers and runners for their commitment to the community.
The competition drew 29 runners. Officials targeted the 17 to 25 age group. District Programme Officer Hokishe Chophy wants these young people to lead the conversation. "The Red Run was being organised across Nagaland as an awareness campaign on HIV and STI prevention," Chophy said. The run seeks to curb social stigma and push for more voluntary testing.
Gihuka Awomi grabbed first place in the men's division. Ikivi Aye took second, while Ahuka finished in third. Sundaytoli won the women's race. Liki and Lipavi Sumi claimed the second and third spots respectively.
