Longleng Youth Race to Boost HIV Awareness

Kohima: Longleng held the District Red Run 2026 on Monday to spread awareness about HIV and sexually transmitted infections. The event operated under the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society. Participants between the ages of 17 and 25 joined the race to promote healthy living.

Dr. Temsusashi, the District AIDS Control Officer for Longleng, spoke to the crowd before the start. He pushed for early testing and an end to the stigma surrounding the virus. He told the runners, "Every individual's effort contributes towards building an HIV-free society."

The runners competed under the theme, Every Step Counts Against HIV and STIs. The race highlighted the need for collective action against health threats. Katlong Phom took first place in the men's category, with A. Phekmei Phom and N. Tenkom Phom following in second and third.

C. Lingoi won the women's category. Wanyong D. Phom claimed second place and Oyau Phom finished third.
