Guwahati: The Xur Bahini is scouring the streets of Guwahati for flood relief. They are channeling the spirit of Jayanta Hazarika and Zubeen Garg to gather aid for devastated families. Musicians, friends, and family joined the campaign on its second day. The drive started at Jalukbari and wrapped up at Ulubari.

Multiple groups are involved in this mission. Chalachitra Samaj Asom, Kalaguru Artist Foundation, Guwahati Cine Musicians Association, Zubeen Fan Club, and the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI NE1 Chapter) are leading the charge. Garima Saikia Garg, wife of Zubeen Garg, is heading the outreach efforts.

"Carrying the core ideals of legendary artists Jayanta Hazarika and Zubeen Garg deep within our hearts, we have stepped out onto the streets," said Garima Saikia Garg. She noted the public response has been massive. Her team already finished a five-day relief camp that provided food, water, and medicine.

The group plans a second trip to affected zones. They will pack relief materials and bring a team of doctors. The group departs for Upper Assam on August 8. They will host free medical camps and distribute supplies from August 9 to August 11.

Garg also demanded state action. She wants the government to label the floods a national disaster to trigger larger solutions. She reflected on the history of the movement, noting, "Back in the 1970s, the iconic Jayanta Hazarika started the Xur Bahini, a golden era we didn't get to see ourselves." She remains committed to the work Zubeen Garg started back in 2004.
