Guwahati: BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary trekked to flood-stricken Sivasagar on August 6. He brought a 104-member relief squad from Kokrajhar. The team hauled thousands of bedsheets, mosquito nets, and hygiene kits for families drowning in floodwater. Prolonged flooding has wrecked local life.
Assam MLA Arup Kumar Dey joined Mohilary on the ground. Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi met the group to guide them through the submerged streets. The team skipped the easy route of just sending supplies. They showed up in person.
Gogoi praised the move as a major act of solidarity. He highlighted the immediate impact of the gear provided to those trapped by the high water. "We are grateful and thankful to Hagrama Mohilary and the entire team. They have brought bedsheets, mosquito nets, essential hygiene products and other relief items for the flood victims. As Sivasagar town remains completely submerged, this assistance will greatly benefit the affected people," Gogoi said.
