Guwahati: The Dibrugarh district administration is funneling massive amounts of aid to the flood-stricken districts of Sivasagar and Charaideo. Crews continue to battle high water levels in their own district while running these external rescue operations. The haul includes over 333,624 litres of drinking water and 195,852 packets of biscuits.
Relief teams prepared supply kits to feed 45,000 people for an entire week. These packs hold rice, pulses, salt, and mustard oil. The relief logistics effort involves 96 light goods vehicles and 58 trucks. Thirty-six laborers are currently in Sivasagar to handle loading and unloading duties. "The district administration said it will continue providing assistance to neighbouring districts while managing the flood situation in Dibrugarh."
Resources sent include 10,000 milk packets, 7,000 mustard oil packets, 15 quintals of chira for Sivasagar, and 68 quintals of pumpkins for Charaideo. Emergency response personnel are already on the ground. Seven country boats are operating in Sivasagar. Rescue teams include two boats with six SDRF personnel in Charaideo and two boats with seven SDRF personnel in Sivasagar. Two NDRF teams, totaling 30 members and eight boats, are handling evacuations in Sivasagar.
Indian Air Force pilots air-dropped 50 special kits on July 25 to Nazira and Sivasagar. These kits followed orders from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Public Health Engineering Department sent 34,000 water purification tablets and 15 bags of bleaching powder to Charaideo. Meanwhile, the Public Works Department moved heavy equipment to Nazira, including four Poclain excavators, six JCB machines, and 13 dumpers for restoration work.
