Guwahati: Assam's flood death toll climbed to 108 following a fatality in West Karbi Anglong. Water is rising again. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority reports that fresh flooding now plagues seven districts: Goalpara, Sivasagar, Biswanath, Nagaon, Morigaon, West Karbi Anglong, and Cachar.
Roughly 25,083 people across 155 villages are caught in the mess. Thirteen relief camps are holding the displaced residents. Fields are underwater too. Data shows 6,477.31 hectares of crop land suffered damage from the deluge.
River levels remain a persistent danger. The Dhansiri River at Numaligarh and the Katakhal River at Matizuri are both currently flowing above their respective danger marks. State officials are monitoring these sites while rescue teams work in the affected zones. According to the ASDMA, "Authorities are continuing to monitor river levels and vulnerable areas as flood conditions persist in parts of the state." Teams are currently assessing the long-term impact on livelihoods, homes, and local agriculture.
