Guwahati: Assam flood waters are pulling back. The situation shows gradual improvement after a week of decline in total affected villages and damaged crop land. Despite the receding levels, the state is not clear yet. Four districts remain underwater.
Morigaon, Sivasagar, Biswanath, and Nagaon are still facing flooding. Data shows 137 villages are inundated, impacting 30,601 residents. Crop damage covers 6,135.713 hectares of land, though this total is dropping compared to last week.
Risks persist on the ground. The River Dhansiri at Numaligarh in Golaghat district continued to flow at a severe flood level at 9 pm on Tuesday. Local officials confirmed the death toll stayed static. "The flood situation in Assam has shown a gradual improvement over the past week," reports indicated.
Impacted revenue circles include Gohpur and Halem in Biswanath, Mikirbheta in Morigaon, and Samaguri, Rupahi, and Nagaon in Nagaon. Flooding also hits Amguri, Sivasagar, and Nazira in Sivasagar district. No fresh fatalities occurred in the latest assessment.
