Guwahati: Sivasagar district authorities have finished 85 percent of their rapid damage survey following the July 19, 2026, floods. Field teams have counted 42,500 damaged houses. Surveying started August 9 with 574 staff members tasked to record losses for handlooms, livestock, pigs, goats, and poultry. This work runs through August 30.
Officials want full coverage. The district administration told residents to report missing data, stating: "The assessment will continue until August 30, and the district administration has asked affected families who may have been inadvertently missed to contact local survey teams, panchayat presidents or ward members immediately to ensure their details are recorded before the deadline."
Cash is moving. The state government promised 15,000 rupees to each household. By August 17, 58,795 families had the money in their bank accounts. Technical snags blocked payments for 7,500 people because of bad IFSC codes or account errors. These records went back to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority on August 19. They expect the money within a week.
More claims are in the queue. The District Commissioner received 6,000 direct applications and sent them to state authorities for approval. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority, state finance officials, and the Reserve Bank of India handle the multi-level verification process. Teams are still digitizing remaining applications at the DC office for final approval.
