Buddhist Monks Deliver Relief to Flood-Stricken Assam Districts

Guwahati: Monks from the Arunachal Pradesh Bhikkhu Sangha arrived in Assam on Sunday, August 8. They brought aid for victims in the Sivasagar and Charaideo districts. These areas face widespread destruction. Floods ruined homes, vehicles, livestock, and farmland.

The group handed out rice, blankets, pillows, bedsheets, mattresses, and kitchen tools to more than 300 people. They also gave cash to displaced families in Sonari Cholapathar, Disangpani, and Demow. The need is extreme.

Ratndeepa Bhikkhu serves as the general secretary for the organisation. During the event, he explained the group's mission. "It was the organisation's responsibility to support people affected by the floods during the crisis," he said.

Bhikkhu also issued a direct plea to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He wants the government to boost relief efforts and fund the repair of homes. The monks intend to help families survive the current disaster.
