Guwahati: Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurinjyoti Gogoi launched a relief mission to help Upper Assam farmers recover from devastating floods. He joined party workers at Aoguri Dhaman in Tingkhong to collect rice seedlings for distribution. They want to restore farmland. The party set a goal to supply one lakh bundles of rice seedlings to those in need. So far, they have handed out 20,000 bundles.
Volunteers are doing the heavy lifting. About 50 to 60 women are traveling to flood-hit villages to plant the crops themselves. They do this work for free. The women describe the effort as a voluntary service to help affected farming communities recover. Participants are planting improved rice varieties like Ranjit, Aijong, Project Lahi, and IT Lahi.
The Assam Jatiya Parishad operates this project as a social responsibility effort. Even without political power, the party aims to secure agricultural stability. The mission continues as workers fan out across the region to help farmers get back on their feet.
