Kohima: Water Resources Department officers in Kohima started a two-day training program on July 16. The session covers drone mapping, photography, and videography. Officials want better visual evidence to secure central funding and manage hard-to-reach work sites. These skills are now mandatory for project reports.
Executive Engineer Wapangnaro Imchen addressed the group at the Chief Engineer conference hall. She noted that the ministry previously rejected project proposals due to poor visual quality. "To meet these responsibilities effectively, she said, the department must continue adopting modern technology by imparting training on photography, videography and drone mapping," according to a DIPR report.
The department requires GIS maps for every Detailed Project Report. Without them, plans get rejected. Junior Engineer and chairperson Mulukhhoto Khama emphasized that these tools provide credible evidence for audits and project monitoring. Terrain often blocks access by foot, making drones necessary. Experts from the DIPR and the department are leading the sessions. The team includes Information Assistant Morotsu Longchar, Assistant Photographer Viketso Meyase, Er C Yamukam Yimchunger, Er Ihalung Herie, Er Kevilhoukho Lhousa, and GIS Expert Wati.
