Itanagar: Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan landed at Donyi Polo Airport in Hollongi on September 8. He kicked off a two-day visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Governor Lt. Gen. K. T. Parnaik (Retd.) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu met him on the tarmac. State police gave him a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
A traditional reception followed at Lok Bhavan. Members of local indigenous tribes greeted the Vice President in their traditional dress. Governor Parnaik spoke to the crowd during the events. He said, "The Vice President’s interaction with the people and encouragement towards the state’s developmental aspirations would strengthen confidence and enthusiasm, particularly among the younger generation."
The Durbar Hall hosted a cultural show titled The Land of Cultures and Traditions. Students from Rajiv Gandhi University in Rono Hills performed Hindustani classical music pieces. Students from Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya and Jomu Norbu Khrimey Public School danced Bharatanatyam and Kathak. Artists also performed the traditional Rikam Pada dance. Mibi Nyodu Taring sang a patriotic song to round out the evening.
Governor Parnaik later hosted a State Banquet at Siddhartha Hall. Attendees included members of the State Cabinet and various Members of Parliament. They discussed the future growth and development goals for the state.
