Guwahati: UPPL leaders met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Parliament House on Wednesday, August 12. They demanded faster work on the 2020 BTR Accord. The delegation included Rajya Sabha MP Pramod Boro, Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narzary, and Lok Sabha MP Jayanta Basumatary.

The group pressed for the 125th Constitutional Amendment Bill. This change impacts the Sixth Schedule and Article 280 of the Constitution. It aims to boost the powers and finances of the Bodoland Territorial Council. The team wants this legislative process moved along quickly.

Floods are destroying the region. Water pouring from Bhutanese streams causes constant erosion and displacement across the BTR. The delegation pushed for a specific initiative to aid districts in Upper Assam hit by the rising rivers and heavy rains. During the meeting, the delegation discussed the "timely implementation of all provisions of the BTR Accord" to stabilize the area.
