Tripura Cracks Down on Hoarding Ahead of Durga Puja

Agartala: Tripura officials are moving to lock down food and fuel supplies before Durga Puja hits. The state government wants to stop shortages and price spikes that typically plague the holiday. Principal Secretary of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department led a major review meeting to map out the distribution plan.

Key players showed up to hash out the details. Attendees included representatives from Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, LPG dealers, ration shop owners, and merchant associations. District Magistrates and Superintendents of Police also sat in to coordinate the logistics. Officials spent hours reviewing supply vehicle routes and security protocols for the coming weeks.

Director of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Sumit Lodh made the government's stance clear. "During Puja, we want to ensure that the supply of all essential commodities reaches the people smoothly at affordable prices," Lodh said. The state plans to aggressively target black marketers and anyone hoarding goods to drive up costs. Those caught breaking the rules face swift action.

Lodh stated that success relies on a team effort. The government, law enforcement, and local business owners must work in lockstep to handle the expected surge in demand. They plan to keep the flow of goods steady across the state through the festival period.
