Tripura CM Orders Crackdown on Drugs and Crime

Agartala: Chief Minister Manik Saha ordered a zero-tolerance policy against drugs and crime on Wednesday, August 5. He wants results. During a video conference from the State Secretariat, Saha instructed officials to form special task forces for trafficking cases. Police must ramp up patrols around schools and colleges. The GB Hospital area needs 24-hour CCTV coverage and more officers on the ground.

Saha issued a direct warning to subordinates. "There would be no room for complacency in tackling the twin challenges of drugs and crime." He expects top performance from every department.

The Chief Minister also set agendas for upcoming state events. He tasked District Magistrates with managing the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign from August 9 to 17 and the Vande Mataram 150th anniversary events. The main state program takes place at Ujjayanta Palace on August 11. Maintenance and regular inspections are mandatory for tourist spots like Chabimura, Unakoti, Dumbur, and Neermahal.

Education and utility sectors face heavy scrutiny. Saha ordered checks on government schools for infrastructure and cleanliness. He noted that 85 to 86 percent of the Jal Jeevan Mission is finished. Officials must now rush to solve water scarcity in places like Khowai. He also checked progress on the Kailashahar Airport, electricity, roads, and the Public Distribution System. Departments must coordinate to fix public grievances fast. He expects staff to treat the public with sensitivity and courtesy.
