Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha demanded zero tolerance for crime and drug trafficking during a state task force meeting on Wednesday. He ordered officials to intensify police patrols near schools and colleges. Saha warned that there would be no room for complacency regarding the drug menace. He suggested forming special task forces if current efforts fall short.

Saha specifically targeted the GB Hospital area for immediate security upgrades. He ordered round-the-clock CCTV monitoring and increased police presence to keep the site free from criminal activity. The Chief Minister expects full accountability from his staff. He stated, "All levels of the administration must work in a coordinated, strict, and effective manner to curb drugs menace and criminal activities."

Beyond law enforcement, the meeting addressed state infrastructure and upcoming public events. Officials must prepare for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign running from August 9 to 17, with the main event set for August 11 at Ujjayanta Palace. The state will also mark the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram.

Tourism departments received orders to clean and maintain major sites, including Chabimura, Unakoti, Dumboor, and Neermahal. Education officials face stricter oversight as well. District magistrates must conduct regular school inspections to check infrastructure and teaching standards. Negligence will not be tolerated.

Reviewing utility services, Saha noted that 85 to 86 percent of the Jal Jeevan Mission is complete. He ordered a faster pace to finish the project and specifically tasked officials with solving water shortages in the Khowai district. He also checked the progress of the Kailashahar Airport commissioning. The administration must also monitor district hospitals, social welfare homes, hostels, vaccination programs, animal health centers, and the public distribution system. Saha ended the session by reminding officials to treat the public with sensitivity and courtesy.
