Agartala: Police arrested two men in Tripura on July 27. Officers found 38 packets of suspected brown sugar inside a blue Renault Duster in the Unakoti district. The suspects, 41-year-old Rajesh Das and 45-year-old Sajal Das, were inside the vehicle when authorities intercepted it in Kumarghat.

Intelligence tips sparked the joint operation. Officials searched the car, identified by license plate AS-03-AD-4875, and located the stash. The men are now in police custody. Representatives from the Kumarghat Police Station and the local Duty Magistrate handled the legal paperwork at the scene.

The state is weighing and testing the haul. Police are filing charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. A spokesperson stated, "A case is being registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is in progress." Detectives continue to build their case.
