Thief falls asleep after stealing gas cylinder in Tripura

Agartala: A local thief learned that crime and exhaustion do not mix. Iman Hossain broke into the home of Sapan Ghosh in the Telkajla Gram Panchayat near Samar Bridge late Sunday night. He grabbed a gas cylinder from the kitchen but failed to make a clean getaway. He passed out cold just a short distance from the scene.

Sapan Ghosh realized his property was missing at 3:30 a.m. He went looking for the cylinder and found the suspect lying unconscious right next to it. Ghosh raised an alarm. Neighbors rushed to the spot and caught the man. Officers from the Melaghar police station arrived shortly after to take the suspect into custody.

Residents described the scene as both shocking and bizarre. Locals claim Hossain is a repeat offender with a history of cattle theft in the area. One neighbor noted, "He is a habitual offender whose actions have long troubled the community." Authorities are still determining if intoxication or simple fatigue caused the thief to doze off during his heist.
