Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha fired back at the opposition on July 16. He called the CPI(M) headquarters in Melarmath, Agartala, an institution of lies. This followed accusations from Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury who claimed the current BJP state government consists of goondas. Saha rejected the claim and turned the heat on his opponents.
Saha told reporters that if anyone wants to master the art of dishonesty, they should head straight to the CPI(M) office. The Chief Minister said, "If there is a party of lies and one needs to learn how to tell lies properly, then the institution of lies is located at Melarmath in Agartala—the office of CPI(M), along with its branches, including CITU and SFI." He claimed the Left party relies on sophisticated presentations to manipulate public opinion.
The feud intensified over reports of labor issues and local conduct. Saha dismissed a CITU leader’s claim that workers are fleeing to Bangladesh for jobs. He also slammed the behavior of opposition members in Belonia. The Chief Minister condemned the language Chaudhury recently used against police officers. He noted those same cops earned their positions during the years the CPI(M) held power.
Saha spoke after opening the Shri Narasingha Devata and Shri Ram Janaki temples at Motorstand. He also highlighted state-led heritage projects. The government spent 1.5 crore rupees on the royal cremation ground. Work finished on the Pushpabanta Palace, which now serves as a luxury hotel. Officials are also pushing ADB-funded renovations at the Kasba Temple.
