Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha tore into the CPI(M) on July 16. He labeled the opposition party an institution of lies. The jab followed claims by Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury, who previously dubbed the BJP-led state government a government of goondas.

Saha directed critics to the CPI(M) headquarters at Melarmath in Agartala if they wanted to learn how to tell lies properly. He explicitly linked the headquarters and affiliated groups like CITU and SFI to this characterization. "If there is a party of lies and one needs to learn how to tell lies properly, then the institution of lies is located at Melarmath in Agartala—the office of CPI(M), along with its branches, including CITU and SFI," the chief minister said.

The Chief Minister accused Left leaders of trying to trick the public with persistent false claims. He dismissed the goonda label as projection from an irresponsible opposition. Saha pointed out that many current police officers were hired during the CPI(M) tenure. He claimed the opposition is now angry because those same officers no longer take their orders.

Saha insists the public sees through these maneuvers. He stated that citizens recall the history of the CPI(M) era. Government officials are now aware of who serves the people and the nation, he added. Political tension in the state continues to climb.
